 STUNNING ANTIQUE NOVEL - BY ORDER OF THE KING ~ SOLD This is a gorgeous antique novel that I have had in my collection for quite some time ~ you are going to love it! This novel is by famed author Victor Hugo of Les Miserables fame. There is no copyright date inside, but By Order Of The King was published in the mid 1800's (the date is of some speculation), so this copy is most likely from the later part of the 1800's. It has a fabulously illustrated cover of a lady in a bonnet and the illustration is on hard label type paper. This illustration is done by Earl Christy who was well known for his gorgeous lady illustrations. The novel has some minor soiling on the cover and outside, but it displays beautifully. The cover is gorgeous! The inside pages (576 in all) are in very good condition with only a few teeny tears on a page or two. There is a slight separation of a few of the pages at the front with the spine. The spine is a little worn on the outside near the top and bottom.
