EXQUISITE ANTIQUE PRINCESS LOUISE OF FRANCE PRINT ~ $75.00
Just marked down - was $95.00
This exquisite antique print of Madame Louise Marie of France is from the
original oil that was painted in 1748 by French artist Jean-Marc Nattier.
Princess Louise Marie of France or Marie Louise (July 15, 1737 - December
23, 1787) was the youngest of 10 children of Louis XV of France and his Queen
Consort Marie Leszcynska. She was born at Versailles and was known as
Madame Septieme or Madame Derniere. Louise Marie never married and she
sought sanctuary from the world in her religion.
This print is an antique and is framed under glass surrounded by a soft powder
blue/green velvet mat. It has a wooden frame with metal ornamental tabs on
all sides. The actual print is exquisitely detailed down to the lace on her dress,
the roses on her garland and her lovely, delicate features. The picture is in
excellent condition for how old it is. There is wear to the wooden frame.
This particular print by Nattier is somewhat rare due to the position of Louise
Marie's left hand. Most times, this print can be found with her left hand
positioned toward her body, not outstretched holding the rose garland as it is
here. The print is quite large measuring 20 1/4" x 16 1/4". The back is fully
papered and has a wire for hanging.
You will love this antique print!
